National Church Planting

Promises Propel Us to Plant

We plant churches because Jesus promises “…I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus and writer of much of the New Testament, underscores this promise as he says, “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known…” (Ephesians 3:8-10).  God’s means for making himself known to those who do not know Jesus is through the planting of churches.

Strategy

We desire to see the 900,000+ people in the RDU area who do not love Jesus Christ hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus, while we also desire to plant primarily urban churches all across the United States.  The city centers are means of cultural, economic, and racial diversity.  It is in the urban cities of America where universities train the next generation of leaders, where the poor and the rich live and work in close proximity with each other, and usually where the greatest diversity of region resides.  Therefore we desire to plant churches of common theology, vision, and values in unique and contextual ways so that more people will be exposed to the gospel of Jesus.  We train up leaders from within our church body as well as partner with other churches with common desires to build the kingdom of God not a TCC kingdom.

Networks and Partnerships

Believing that God works in ways faithful to his word through many different churches that make up his body we have chosen to partner with several groups of churches for national church planting.  We like to talk about partnerships like flying flags on the pole. The flags of partnership that we fly, right after the Jesus flag are as follows:

Treasuring Christ Together Church Planting Network (TCT)

Acts 29 Church Planting Network

Southern Baptists (specifically through Open Door Baptist Church and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary)

Church Planting Residency

Our church planting resident is Blake Hollander  Our plan is a collection of material from the TCT network and a Southern Baptist partner Jeff Doyle at North Wake Church.  Click below to see what kind of things the residency will involve.
