Emerge: Leadership Development

To develop leaders at TCC we encourage those who desire to be pastors or church planters to come to church, join and serve. We observe their giftings, care for the body, etc. over those 2-6 months (could be more if they are not initiative takers or they are in a special season of life that prohibits them from giving too much time). Then they would enter our leadership training process which is one school year (9 months) called Emerge. In this year we focus in on the person’s character, on the cross and seek to cultivate a love for the church.  We care for their marriage, parenting, and life issues in formal and informal ways.  We also provide them ministry leadership opportunities so that they can be observed in a more formal capacity.  After this year they get a formal assessment where they will 1) fold back into the life of the church if they aren’t ready to move forward, or 2) they move on towards eldership at TCC through a pastoral internship , or they are placed on national or international church planting tracks which include internships and residencies for those who are ready to plant within a year.

Invest: Leadership Care & Training

Not only do inviduals and families in groups need care and training but the leaders of those groups need on going care and training. So we have created a monthly system of care and training for our community group leaders and other deacons in order to make sure that the deacons of TCC are being poured into and trained toward godliness.

Each community group leader is a part of a sphere group which consists of anywhere from 3 to 5 group leaders (husband and wife teams).  Each sphere group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month for care, that is fellowship around a meal, discussion of our joys and pains, and intentional conversation about how the gospel applies to their marriage/relationships, parenting, and finances. This is called INVEST- Care.  Then every third month we shift from an emphasis of care to an emphasis of training (INVEST- Training).
