Prayer & Fasting: Conversions in Our City and follow up from LTC Celebration

Our mission statement states that "We exist to make disciples who treasure Christ, love the church, love the city, and love the world." As a church we agreed that we want to embrace our mission statement in word and deed. So, this quarter we are focusing on being a people who treasure Christ. One way this fleshes itself out is through prayer and fasting which we will be doing together as a church this coming Thursday.

What we want to do is to take a meal, days worth of meals, or an activity from which we would refrain, and use that time to pray for conversions in our city and follow up from LTC Celebration.

You might use these verses to pray during your time of prayer and fasting:

1 Peter 1:3
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1 Peter 2.22-25
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

James 2:1
Show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory

Colossians 2:6-7
As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Philippians 2.3-4
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Possible topics for prayer:

- Salvation for people in Southeast Raleigh and the greater Raleigh area
- That the people of Raleigh would see Jesus rightly
- That strongholds would be torn down throughout our city
- That there would be genuine relationships built between our community and our church.
- Growth in faith and love for those who were baptized.
- Humility and sacrifice in TCC members to serve the community where God has placed them.

God give us affection and compassion for those around us and for our city that would result in sacrificial love and an eagerness to share the gospel with them.
