This Sunday @ TCC: Freed to Forgive
Thanks for checking out the blog this week! Last week pastor Sean preached from Matthew 6:24-34. Pastor Sean reminded us from the text that anxiety is a worship disorder. It is an issue of who is our master. And the anxious heart, along with anger, are idol identifiers. They signal to us that another master is getting our devotion rather than Christ. Jesus calls us to seek him- who he is (righteousness) and what he has done (His kingdom) and trust him to add to us everything we need. If you missed this sermon (or want to hear it again!), you can listen to it here or watch it below.
This week we are continuing in our Freed sermon series. Pastor Travis will be preaching this week from Luke 7:36-50 regarding how, in Christ, we are free to forgive. Here are Pastor Travis’ thoughts about where are heading this week:
God has at least one person in your life he wants to see you forgive this week. Don’t believe me? Then just humor me for a moment. As you read this pause a sec. Take a breath, assume a two-fisted grip on the shield of faith, and think about someone who has hurt you. If no one immediately comes to mind here’s a hint: most likely it was someone close to you or at least they were close to you at one point. Until they hurt you. It could have been recent or it could have been long ago. But you’ve been hurt. And now you need to heal; and they need forgiveness. The surprising thing is the former flows from the latter. Your healing is wrapped up in moving toward forgiving the very person who hurt you. Does this churn your heart a little? Sound outta whack? Sometimes true freedom rings foreign in the ears of a slave…
Join us this Sunday as we continue is our sermon series Freed by considering the reality that in Christ we have been freed to forgive.
This week we will also hear testimony and sing together!
May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, “God is great!”
(Psalm 70:4)
May this be true of our gathering- may we all, with one voice, say (and sing) evermore,”God is great!”
Here are some of the songs that we will sing this week! Take some time to listen and prepare to sing when we gather!
