This Sunday: 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 & Revelation 21:1-8
Thanks for checking out the blog this week! Last week @ TCC we heard pastor Sean preaching from 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. We were encouraged that because of the resurrection and the defeat of death we can “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord [our] labor is not in vain.” If you missed this sermon you can listen to it here or watch it below.
This week we will continue our study in 1 Corinthians. We will study 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 and Revelation 21:1-8. Take some time to read this text to prepare your heart to hear the Word preached. Also, see Pastor Sean’s thoughts below:
There is nothing more promising, hopeful and powerful than this phrase, “God is with us.” This is why the resurrection is powerful, important, and changes everything. The resurrection secures all of God’s promises, reveals a power that conquers sin, Satan and death, and reveals there is not just life now but life eternal that will be indescribably better. With all the glories of the resurrection that 1 Cor 15 has been teaching us it must be taken in the context of the whole letter. This is the same letter where Paul says, “I desire to know nothing but Christ and Him crucified,…” and where Paul speaks of building our lives on no other foundation other than Jesus Christ. So when we read of the resurrection and all of the benefits it secures, we can’t miss the point of the resurrection to new life. We can’t pass over what makes death’s defeat precious. It is Christ. Christ is the point of eternity. He is the Christian’s longing. And eternity will be amazing because he will be there with us. When we are awakened to Jesus as our reward will see him as one to be fully enjoyed and shared; he will not only be embraced but also extended to others in love. The resurrection secures our hope that gives birth to genuine deep God-soaked love for others; and what is our hope- more than eternal life…our hope is life with Jesus. This week we will be seeking to bring this out from parts of 1 Corinthians but mostly from Revelation 21:1-8. I look forward to joining you on Sunday morning to study and experience the presence of God with his people.
This week we will hear through testimony how God is working in our church and we will sing together! Take some time to listen to these songs to prepare your heart for our worship through song!
