This Sunday: Walking in the Spirit- 1 Corinithians 12-14

Preparing for Sunday 150x150 This Sunday: Walking in the Spirit 1 Corinithians 12 14Thanks for checking the blog this week! Last week Pastor Paul preached from Philippians 3:17-21. He taught us from the word that we can find joy by looking forward to a glorified body and eternal joy purchased by the redeeming blood of Jesus! If you missed this sermon you can listen to it here or watch it here on the TCC vimeo channel.

This week we will be back in 1 Corinthians. Pastor Sean will preach an overview of 1 Corinthians 12-14 focusing on walking in the Spirit. Here is a summary from Pastor Sean about where we are heading this week:

What does it mean to walk by the Spirit? To unbelievers it makes no sense and seems confusing. Paul tells us in 1 Cor 2 that spiritual things are not possible for the natural man to understand apart from God’s work in their lives. So we pray for Him to make His word clear and to save. For believers however it doesn’t make much sense either, at least how to practically live it out. The day to day of walking in the Spirit isn’t clear. This week as we reenter our 1 Cor study we are going to catch back up looking at Paul’s encouragement to be a Spirit-filled people whose focus is on Christ crucified and whose actions are that of sacrificial love for others. Being a spiritual people means we are striving to walk by and be filled by the Spirit throughout our day. We will be discussing what that looks like to walk by the Spirit taking portions of the first 14 chapters of Corinthians to guide us into the peace, joy, love and mission that comes from walking continually by the Spirit.

We will also hear testimony from Vijay Sindry, a pastor and church planting leader from India connected to us through the Treasuring Christ Together (TCT)church planting network.

Here are the songs we will sing this week. Take a few minutes to listen to or download these songs so that we can sing out with one voice to “proclaim the excellencies of him who called [us] out of darkness into his marvelous light.” We sing together to praise the Lord, edify one another, and proclaim the good news to our city and the world!
