Majesty, Mission, and Man: Romans 1:18-23
Welcome to this week’s preparing for Sunday blog! Last week Pastor Travis preached through Genesis 1:26-31. He taught that we should reflect God in such a way that is clear to all that God is clearly reigning in our lives. If you missed this sermon you can listen to it online or watch it on our vimeo channel.
This week we will continue on in our summer sermon series, Majesty, Mission, and Man. Pastor Travis will be preaching through Romans 1:18-23. Take some time to read this text to prepare to hear the word preached! We will also take the Lord’s Supper this week. Examine your heart and come ready to partake. Here is a summary from Pastor Travis about where we are heading this in our time together:
Last week we looked at Gen 1 and saw how God, in his abounding sovereign goodness, fashioned man, both male and female, in his image. Just as the 1927 Florentine banjo was beautifully and ornately built by Gibson to highlight superior craftsmanship, humans were created and specially designed to be reflections or mirrors of God’s majesty. However, as we keep reading through the biblical storyline, we quickly see man has earned the just anger of God and is in dire need of a Savior. What in the world went wrong? How did man plummet so far, plunging from the creational Summit of the Reflection of God to the Valley of Rebellion toward God? Come join us this week as we journey through installment 2 of our 4-part series on Majesty, Mission, and Man.
