This Week @ TCC: 1 Corinthians 14
Thanks for checking out the blog this week! Last week, Pastor Sean preached an overview of 1 Corinthians 12-14. If you missed this sermon you can listen to it here online or you can watch it here on the tcc vimeo channel.
This week we will move on in our study of 1 Corinthians to focus on 1 Corinthians 14:
Last week we explored the Bible to discover that all the spiritual gifts are still to be pursued for the good of the church. Although some controversy surrounds some of these gifts such as prophecy, tongues, miracles, and healings, these gifts are not meant to stir up division but to build up the church. Last week we discussed how all gifts, including gifts of healings and miracles, are designed by God for the common good, ie for love. This week from 1 Corinthians 14 we will continue to discuss how tongues and especially prophecy build up one another as well. As Paul encourages the Corinthian church so he does us, that we will earnestly desire all the spiritual gifts because of our love for one another. God gives gifts not so that we would be fixated on the prominence or spectacular nature of the gift, but that we would be focused on the Giver and act with those gifts to deeply care for and authentically love others.
We will also take the Lord’s Super this week and worship together through song! Take some time to listen to the songs we will sing this week!
