This Sunday: 1 Corinthians 11:2-16

Preparing for Sunday 150x150 This Sunday: 1 Corinthians 11:2 16Last week Pastor Sean preached through 1 Corinthians 10:14-11:1.  Pastor Sean taught from the text that we should  be living an idol-forsaking, God-glorifying life empowers love and bends our hearts once again toward altering our lives for the sake of those without Jesus.  If you missed this sermon, click here to watch or listen online.

This week we move on to 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. Read Pastor Sean’s summary below:

How men and women relate to each other has been a question for the ages.  Some say men should dominate women. Others say women are more competent than men. Others scream equality means there can be no distinctions.  The good news is God has a design that brings him the most glory and gives us clarity and peace.  In 1 Corinthians 11-14 Paul shifts from previous subjects to address the corporate gatherings of the church. In Corinth the way men and women were acting in public worship was not honoring God and his creative design. God’s message through Paul in 1 Cor 11:2-16 is for the men and women, especially husbands and wives, to bring glory to God through their created roles, not just in private, but when they are gathered together to worship.  My prayer is that we not only understand this text better, but that we also begin to live out it truth- we are all equal in God’s sight yet with distinct God given roles for men and women in the home and the church. I pray that how we relate to each other will bring glory to God, satisfy us in Him, and will be a great story of God’s love for the world to read.
