This Sunday: 1 Corinthians 9:27
Thanks for checking the blog this week! Last week, was an exciting week at TCC. We listened to testimonies from some of our international workers, took the Lord’s supper together, and heard Pastor Sean preach through 1 Corinthians 8! If you missed the sermon, click here to listen or watch online.
This week we will begin a three-week series on spiritual disciplines. Pastor Paul will focus on the importance of meditating on God’s Word. Our sermon text will be 1 Corinthians 9:27 and Psalm 19. Here is a summary from Pastor Paul about where are heading this week:
“This week in our I Corinthian series, we are landing in Chapter 9. Actually, we hit the runway in Chapter 9 and skidded all the way to verse 27 where the Apostle Paul states, “I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” In light of this verse, we are embarking on a 3 week sermon series pertaining to spiritual disciplines. (Pastor Sean will be preaching on the bulk of Chapter 9 in the near future). The Apostle Paul is clear regarding the necessity of discipline in the life of the believer and the vigor with which we must fight to control our bodies for the glory of God. The particular discipline we will focus on this week is that of reading the Bible and meditating on God’s Word. Meditating on God’s Word and engaging with our Maker through the Word are absolutely essential for the believer’s spiritual nourishment and vitality. We will reflect upon the beauty of the Word, which testifies to the greatness of its’ Author, and we pray our hearts are challenged to pursue Him through His Words that are truly “Sweeter than honey.”‘ -Pastor Paul
